Skipper hopes to shake off thigh knock

Noxs hopes to shake off a thigh injury in time to end Mantis' Champion league hopes in Wednesday's quarter final.

The JaGis(Jawa+Bugis) winger hold on through full time into his side's win over Wizurai after a strong challenge from Atoi.

Noxs will confer with team doctors on Sunday to determine the extent of his injury, but is expected to play against Kechik's side.

"I've got a blue mark after the hit on my thigh, but I don't think it's serious," he revealed. "On Sunday I will talk to the doctor and I hope I can play against Mantis, but we will see.

"I took two hits. I've hold on until the final whistle but after that, my leg started to swell and I had to leave.

"This is football. I'm used to it. Obviously I would have liked to help my team-mates. I started the game very well and I thought I could have a great match. But my team-mates had a great game and I have to congratulate them."

Dettol's win over Wizurai was marred by the end of Wizurai unbeaten run this trimester.

He said: "I hope it's a great game of football (against Mantis). I want both teams to finish the match with all 11 players - then it will be a good game.

"It is a special match because I've been friends with many of the players from Mantis for three years and I hope we can win."

Boss wary of Mantis' hunger

Shea will not disregard Mantis in Wednesday's MMU Champion League quarter-final at Stadium of Mud, insisting that if Dettol cannot match the opponent' will to win, the day could end in disappointment.

The boss is an admirer of the job Kechik has done at Mantis, and insists the opponent are primed to win silverware, with Wednesday representing an ideal opportunity to reach a semi-final. "My problem is that we're facing a very hungry team," she said.

"Kechik wants to win a trophy, and this is a big opportunity for him. That’s what we’re facing: a very hungry team, and a very hungry manager. We know what we’re up against. He has a good young squad that will get better. The young players he has in the team, allied to the ones he's brought in, have a good future. He’s done a great job."

Shea is well aware of Mantis' history and refuses to accept any notion that they are a small club. "Kechik has been there for one year now and he has built a good club. Irrespective of what Nadeem (F&F) says – he called them a small club – they are a big club. That just points to [Nadeem's] arrogance."

Mantis again at Quarter final

The opponent is set for Quarter-final match after Mantis FC beat Seryes FC 3-1 in the 2nd round match. It is a rematch after last trimester quarterfinal that sees The Antiseptic lost 1-0 at extra time. A draw during early trimester friendly also reflect that Mantis is a strong team. The match will be on 22nd of April on Wednesday from 17.45 till 19.00 Malaysia time.

"We need to show other teams that as mediocre team we are, we still capable of beating any teams in MMU because we are strong as a team itself."

"There were some great talents," he said. "I always watch skipper Noxs when he is on the field, when I was a youth team player, watching him train.

"When I finally broke through, playing and training with players like Eng How, Song Wei ,Che Mad and Noxs, players I've watched over the trimester, they inspired me.

Luqman rates Dettol's Adly better than F&F Azim "Pelekat"

Luqman(right) is interviewed after watching Man Utd vs Porto Champion league match

Dettol FC midfielder Luqman"Shy Guy" has declared teammate Adly "The Flying Italian" as a better player than F&F injured goalkeeper Azim "Pelekat".

"First of all, you have to take into account that Azim and Adly are different players," he told The Press after Man Utd Champion League mattch yesterday. "For sure they are currently the best goalkeeper in MMU Cyberjaya, they both have extraordinary technique, but they are different.

"And, if Azim has many cleansheets nowadays before his injury, Adly is a player that has stopped more attempt this season. It totally depends on how many shots on target from the opponent."

"Then, the greatness of a player is measured by how many individuals award he has win and how many saves that he made for his team . Therefore, I have to recognise that Adly is better than Azim."
